We Made It to Tokyo

Fiji -> Auckland -> Shanghai -> Tokyo. What a long day, night, and day again.

We departed Fiji mid-afternoon on Friday, Sept 8 for Auckland. After a several hour layover in Auckland, we boarded our 11pm flight for Shanghai, a 12+ hour flight. Yepp, we planned to sleep thru it.

After a good night's sleep, Mike woke to a beautiful sunrise, somewhere off the coast of China, south of China. And of course, breakfast!

In Shanghai, we tried to change our flight to Tokyo to an earlier one, but it wasn't possible, so we had to wait a few hours for our connecting flight. Once we boarded our ANA flight, more food, and sake!

We made it to Tokyo's Narita airport, retrieved our Japan Rail Pass, and got a seat reservation for our Narita Express train trip to Shinagawa Station, the station closest to our Tokyo Marriott hotel. An interesting walk to the hotel, since we weren't exactly sure where it was. Mike only knew the general direction (Thanks to Google!).

We made it with little trouble. About a 20 minute walk. After checking in, we got to the executive lounge just before they started to remove the food. Our dinner was a variety of hot and cold snacks, and some welcome drinks. Time to go to sleep, and rest up.
